Matthew Brehmer

About

Matthew Brehmer is a research scientist at Tableau Software, where he focuses on information visualization. Specifically, he is interested in expressive visualization design for communication and presentation, visualization design for devices large and small, and the visualization of time-oriented data, including quantities, event sequences, and dynamic networks.

Matthew's open-source visualization work can seen and used online. He has spoken about his work at venues such as OpenVisConf, IEEE VIS, ASA SDSS, the Microsoft Data Insights Summit, and ACM CHI, and he has published papers about his work in top visualization publications such as IEEE Transactions on Visualization & Computer Graphics.

He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of British Columbia. He also has degrees specializing in Human-Computer Interaction and Cognitive Science.
